Before starting your tour of Neptune’s Cave, here are just a few important details to keep in mind.
The tour takes approximately 30 minutes, and tours depart on the full hour.
Pets are permitted only if leashed and muzzled.
There are no toilet facilities available within the site. Toilets are only accessible in the square at Capo Caccia.
Appropriate clothing is required. Entry in swimwear or with a bare chest is not permitted.
During the visit, it is strictly forbidden to touch the stalactites and stalagmites, to consume food or drink - with the exception of water, or to smoke.
Visitors reaching the cave overland must take the Escala del Cabirol - a staircase of 654 steps carved into the rock along the Capo Caccia cliff face. The path is uneven in spots and carries a high risk of stumbling. Given its cliff-top location overlooking the sea, there is also a risk of small debris falling from above.
Access via the Escala del Cabirol is recommended only for healthy individuals and is not advised for anyone with heart or respiratory disorders, due to the elevation drop of approximately 119 metres.
Visitors are required to wear comfortable shoes suitable for downhill walking, with good grip. Entry may be denied to anyone wearing unsuitable footwear, such as flip-flops.
Throughout the summer, it is not advisable to walk the Escala del Cabirol during the hottest hours of the day. Inside the cave, the temperature remains constant all year round, between 18 and 20 degree Celsius.
The environment in the cave is wet and the walkways may be slippery. The grounds are naturally uneven and in some sections the overhead clearance is very low, so there is a risk of head injuries.
We encourage all visitors to proceed with care, to always follow the staff’s instructions, and to treat with respect this sensitive and precious natural environment.
